Remodeling the building will expand the types of training offered in order to meet the constantly changing situations faced by first responders.  The company has made the property available to local emergency responders since 2004.

A $258,300 grant from Flint Hills Resources will help more than 11,000 students from Texas experience the Texas State Aquarium without leaving their classrooms.

The distance learning program, which began in 2003 with the help of a $250,000 grant from Flint Hills Resources, connects the aquarium and it's marine life exhibits to science and math lessons that are part of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills.

The grant will support children's educational programs that meet the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills objectives as well as building an interest in marine life.
